A-level exam results 2021

A-level exam results 2021

Sixth form students, parents and staff are celebrating another fantastic set of A-level results; 98% of grades were A* to B with 56% achieving the very highest grade of A*. The school has for the last few years been in the top 1% of schools nationally for A-level performance and this year’s results show just how dedicated Sherfield students and their teachers are.

Nick Brain, Headmaster, is thrilled with the results. He commented “despite an unprecedented year, the hard work and motivation of our students has paid off and these outcomes are a real credit to them. Sherfield teachers are always committed to supporting students achieve what they want in life. We wish every student all the very best as they prepare for the next chapter in their lives.”

We are delighted with the performance of all of our students. Our Head Boy and Girl both did fantastically well and are both going on to study History at Exeter. Oisin Maguire achieved 2 A*s, 1 A and an A* in EPQ. Emilie Grant achieved 1 A*, 2 As and an A* in EPQ.

A few other highlights include; James Curtis, who will be studying Computer Science at Kings College and Simon Xu, who is going on to study Chemical Engineering at Imperial College. James and Simon both got 4 A* grades.

Sasha Pankhurst is going on to study Fashion Marketing at Southampton and achieved 3 A* grades. Jack Murray, who achieved 3 Distinction* grades, is going on to study Business Management at Aberdeen. Zahra and Srividya have both secured offers to study medicine.

Deputy Head, Chris James-Roll commented that, “all our sixth formers will be leaving with a great set of qualifications but more importantly, they are the most caring and dedicated bunch of young adults you could hope to meet, many of whom have been with us since nursery. They now leave us with the wide array of attributes and skills needed to be successful in a global society ready to face the challenges of the 21st century.”

This year’s A-levels have been very unusual, with continuous assessment forming the basis for judgements but they have been none the less rigorous and all students around the country going through the process this year should be very proud of all they have achieved.

Ms Seamark, Head of Sixth Form commented “I am so proud of the A-level and BTEC results achieved by our students this year, which is testament to their hard work and endeavour, as well as the dedication of their teachers in supporting them over the last two years. I have nothing but admiration for the way that students adapted to online learning and remained positive about their studies despite the uncertainty that ensued as a result of the pandemic. I look forward to hearing of their many successes over the coming years.”
