Leadership in the Making: Year 10 Army Training Experience
This week, our Year 10 students experienced an unforgettable day of teamwork, discipline, and determination as the British Army visited our school to deliver an action-packed Army Training Challenge Day.
From the moment the instructors arrived in uniform, excitement filled the air. Students were quickly split into teams and given a series of demanding but fun challenges designed to test their communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills under pressure.
The activities were anything but easy.
Teams had to navigate obstacle-style tasks, complete strategic problem-solving missions, and work together to overcome physical and mental challenges. Success depended not on individual strength, but on how well each group could plan, listen, and support one another.
What stood out most was the level of encouragement within each team. Students who might not usually work together found themselves relying on each other, learning quickly that every voice mattered and every role was important. As the day went on, confidence grew, strategies improved, and teamwork became stronger.
The Army instructors were impressed by the resilience and attitude shown by our students, praising their determination and willingness to keep going even when tasks became tough. There were plenty of moments of laughter, a few muddy trainers, and lots of cheering as teams completed each challenge.
By the end of the day, Year 10 had not only faced a series of demanding tasks but had also developed valuable life skills—communication, leadership, trust, and perseverance, that will stay with them long after the event.
A huge well done to all students who took part, and thank you to the Army team for delivering such a motivating and memorable experience. It was a day that truly showed what can be achieved when we work together!
