Prep at Sherfield School includes Junior Prep and Senior Prep, spanning Years 1 to 8 (ages 5 to 13).

In Sherfield Prep, children grow from curious young learners into increasingly independent pupils.

Small classes and individual attention help teachers understand how each child learns, where they need support and when they are ready for greater challenge.

Our curriculum combines academic foundations with practical projects, outdoor learning, sport, music and creative opportunities. Children are encouraged to ask questions, develop their ideas and take pride in their progress.

At Sherfield School, the wellbeing of our pupils is at the heart of everything we do.

Class teachers, form tutors and the Prep leadership team work with inclusion specialists, school nurses and the school counsellor to support our pupils. Close communication with families helps staff understand concerns and agree any appropriate next steps.

PSHE, outdoor learning, physical activity and opportunities for responsibility all help children develop emotional understanding, confidence and positive relationships.

Learning is exciting, meaningful and memorable in the Junior stage, and our learners become increasingly independent as they progress through Senior Prep.

In Junior Prep, hands-on experiences help children connect classroom learning with the world around them. As pupils move through Senior Prep, teaching becomes more specialised and pupils take greater responsibility for their work, choices and contribution to school life.

The Senior Prep Pathways Project connects learning with real-world contexts and future careers. Alongside their academic studies, pupils can explore interests and develop talents through the co-curricular programme.
