A happy, purposeful, enriching experience for every child.
Early Years at Sherfield is the beginning of an exciting adventure for young learners, from Nursery to Reception.
A world-class learning approach that feels natural and fun |
We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage, combining child-led play with purposeful guidance from experienced adults. Children develop early language, communication, physical and social skills through everyday experiences, stories, practical activities and play. |
Free-flow indoor and outdoor spaces offer varied opportunities for discovery and learning, and adults build on children’s interests, introducing new ideas and supporting each child’s next steps. Our Atelier approach encourages children opportunities to explore ideas through art, making and experimentation. Inviting spaces and thoughtfully chosen materials encourage children to investigate, create and express their thinking in different ways. Adults observe, listen and respond to children’s interests, helping them develop ideas and revisit their discoveries. We value the learning process as much as the outcome, giving children time to make choices, solve problems and develop confidence in their own ideas. |

Our school is set amidst the splendour of the English countryside. |
The perfect setting for outdoor learning and connecting children with nature. |
Our setting gives children opportunities to explore, notice seasonal changes and develop a connection with nature. Outdoor experiences support movement, curiosity and learning through play, with adults helping children investigate the world around them. |
“He always has the best time!” |
The Caterpillar Room welcomes children aged three months to two years, while our Butterflies Room supports children aged two to three. Pre-Reception builds on these foundations through play and small-group activities that develop confidence and readiness for Reception. |
We work with families through each transition, helping children become familiar with their new surroundings and the adults who will care for them. |
