Parents of children from 9 months to school age may be able to claim for Early Years Education Funding (EYEF) of up to 30 hours per week (1,140 hours/year), depending on family circumstances.

What funded hours are available?

Sherfield Early Years is a registered provider of the government’s Early Years Education Funding (EYEF).

  • 15 hours per week (Universal Funding) for all children aged 3–4.
  • Up to 30 hours per week (Working Families Entitlement) for eligible families from 9 months old to school age.

Funded hours cover core childcare only and are deducted from your invoice before it is issued.

What does the funding cover – and not cover?

Funding covers:

  • 15 or 30 hours of core childcare per week (depending on eligibility)

Funding does not cover:

  • Meals (two-course lunch or tea)
  • Consumables such as nappies, wipes and suncream

For funded sessions, parents may either:

  • Pay the optional consumables charge per funded session, or
  • Provide their own food and consumables and opt out of the charge.
Term-time or stretched funding?

Parents can choose how they would like to use their funded hours:

Term-Time (35–38 weeks)
Your full 15 or 30 hours are used during term time only.

Stretched (48 weeks)
Your annual funded hours are spread across the 48 weeks we are open, reducing the number of funded hours per week and helping to lower monthly invoices across the year.

Our Admissions Team can help you decide which option works best for your family.

How does funding affect my fees?

Your funded hours are deducted before your invoice is issued.

If you book more hours than your funded entitlement, you simply pay for the additional hours booked.

For example:

  • If you attend 1–3 days per week, funding may cover part or all of your sessions depending on your entitlement.
  • If you attend 4–5 days per week, funding will reduce your overall fees and you pay for any hours above your entitlement.

Because every family’s booking pattern is different, we provide personalised fee illustrations on request. Please contact or Admissions Team - admissions@sherfieldschool.co.uk or 01256 884 816

Optional Consumables Charges (Funded Sessions Only)

When claiming funded hours, the optional consumables charge per funded session is:

  • £2.90 (under 2s)
  • £2.65 (2–4 years)

This includes:

  • Nappies, wipes and suncream
  • Two-course lunch (morning sessions)
  • Two-course tea (afternoon sessions)

Parents who wish to opt-out must provide their own consumables and a cold lunch/snack in a named lunchbox.
