Sherfield School is delighted to celebrate the remarkable achievements of former pupil Albie, whose outstanding success in golf has seen him represent England and secure a scholarship opportunity with a leading American university.

Albie, who was a valued member of Sherfield's Golf Programme during his time at the school, enjoyed a sensational 2025 season that culminated in his selection to represent England against Ireland in October. The honour marked a significant milestone in his sporting journey, making him the first Hampshire golfer to represent England in nine years.

The England call-up capped a year filled with impressive performances. Among his achievements, Albie was crowned Hampshire Under-16 County Champion, finished runner-up at the West of England Boys Championship, and secured a Top 10 finish at the South East Group Finals Day.

One of the standout moments of the season came at the prestigious North of England Boys Championship, where Albie delivered a record-breaking performance to claim the title. Posting rounds of 67, 66, 64 and 71, he finished an incredible 21 under par, setting a new tournament scoring record. His third-round score of 64 also equalled the course record, underlining the exceptional standard of golf he displayed throughout the competition.

The victory attracted significant attention from university golf programmes across the United States, with coaches eager to discuss scholarship opportunities. Alongside his sporting achievements, Albie's academic success played a key role in opening doors. His excellent GCSE results, including four Grade 9s and five Grade 8s, demonstrated the combination of sporting talent and academic dedication sought by top institutions.

Following visits to several universities across America, Albie has now verbally committed to Rutgers University, where he will join their NCAA Division One golf programme in August 2027. Located in New Jersey, approximately 30 minutes from New York City, Rutgers offers both a highly respected academic education and a competitive golfing environment, with its men's golf team currently ranked among the top Division One programmes in the country.

Looking ahead, Albie is excited about the opportunity to spend four years in the United States, combining his studies with elite-level collegiate golf.

Reflecting on his journey, Albie's family expressed their gratitude to Sherfield School and the staff who supported his development, particularly through the Golf Programme, which played an important role in nurturing both his talent and ambition.

Everyone at Sherfield School is immensely proud of Albie's achievements and looks forward to following his continued success on the international stage and in collegiate golf in the United States. We wish him every success as he embarks on this exciting next chapter.
