We are seeking a committed, passionate and flexible Teacher of English capable of teaching KS3 to 5. The ideal candidate will be organised and collaborative, with strong classroom management skills. Applications are encouraged from both experienced candidates and those seeking their first teaching position, including ECTs.

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in the education of students at Sherfield School. As a 3 months to 18 years co-educational day and boarding independent school, there are many opportunities to develop and succeed.

The Teacher of English will focus on delivering excellent lessons that promote both attainment and engagement, as well as providing personalised feedback to ensure all students make progress and meet expectations. Teachers must meet national standards, ensure appropriate planning and preparation, and effectively deploy support staff where applicable. In addition, teachers will contribute to curriculum development, create schemes of work, and collaborate with colleagues to align objectives with the school’s strategic priorities. This role is full time, term time only, with a start date of April or September 2026.

Facilities Assistant

Sherfield School is looking to recruit a proactive, flexible and driven full-time Facilities Assistant, working within the Facilities Team, to ensure that the school site is kept up to the highest standards.

The Facilities Assistant will undertake a full caretaking, repair, portering and administrative service within the growing team. The candidate must be able to multi-task, have a positive attitude and a commitment to maintaining procedure and the school to the highest standard.

This role will require occasional out of hours call-out work and some weekend work (arranged in advance as overtime/TOIL) and require a certain amount of flexibility, particularly where seasonal peaks in the school calendar have an impact on the complexity of site use.

37.5 hrs per week, 52 weeks a year. Permanent, full-time.

Key Responsibilities

The responsibilities outlined below are not exhaustive but are indicative of the requirements of this significant and diverse role.

· To assist with general maintenance on the school site, e.g. replacing light bulbs, cleaning gutters, unblocking drains, cleaning windows

· To assist with general repairs as required

· To assist with larger maintenance projects, e.g. decorating of school, refurbishment of areas

· To help set up and clear away areas booked for internal and external events such as examinations, parent's evenings, concerts

· To report any defect to the Head of Estates and Facilities

· To participate in staff programmes for training, in particular safeguarding and Health and Safety.

· Promote the good work of the school in the wider community

Essential Skills and Experience

· Maintenance experience

· Multi-skilled individual with experience of a trade/DIY skills

· Proficiency in the operation of grounds maintenance machinery

· Competent understanding of Health and Safety regulations

· Capable of undertaking all aspects of the role and the physical challenges of the post

· Good written and oral communication skills including IT skills

· Ability to self-motivate and encourage other staff in a team environment

· Organised, methodical and efficient approach to achieving high standards

· Approachable and professional with good communication skills

· Flexibility at all times

· Self-motivated, high energy and pro-active with a ‘can-do’ attitude
