Battle of the Bands 2022

    23 May 2022

Battle of the Bands 2022

On Friday 20th May, the Fountain Lawn was electrified with bands and their supporters. There were 8 incredible competing groups, from Years 6-11, as well as solo act from Polly Gauld (Year 8), a group from Sixth Formers Bonnie, Ruby and Maddy, and the unmatched staff band. The night was a roaring success, with such diverse songs, and some incredible band merchandise. The bands were as follows:

  • The Vision (Victoria, Joao, Olly, Hugo, Arav) had an incredible medley: Eye of the Tiger and We Will Rock You, both crowd pleasers.
  • Rolling Rocks (Izzy, Hattie, Darcey), a Year 6 trio, gave a beautiful rendition of Riptide by Vance Joy
  • Apollo (Aaron, Theo, Harry, Cara), with the coolest merchandise, performed George Ezra’s ‘Anything for You’.
  • Wrong Direction (Idil, Vinicio, Cara, Nic) did a stunning rendition of Shallow by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper.
  • Kids on Capri Sun (Bella, Lexie, Rowan, Harry, Evan) brilliantly performed a Bruno Mars classic, Locked Out of Heaven.
  • Isaac and Niamh performed a Radiohead classic, Weird Fish, will drums, ukulele and vocals. Amazing!
  • Outline (Theo, Charlie, Ben, Daniel M, Daniel K, Isaac) rocked out to Coldplay’s ‘Adventure of a Lifetime’, a tough song, the crowd clearly loving it.
  • Nothing More (Violet, Aayan, Fran, Thomas, Joseph) concluded the competing acts, and what a way to finish, performing Evanescence’s ‘Bring Me To Life’ and Alicia Key’s ‘If I Ain’t Got You’!

After tough deliberation from judges Yasmin and Imogen, 3rd place went to Outline, 2nd to Nothing More and the winners were Kids on Capri Sun.

The evening was thrilling (despite a quick spell of rain). All musicians worked tirelessly to deliver the stellar performances, and it certainly paid off!

A huge thanks to everyone involved in the preparation and running of the event. I have no doubt we will all be back next year for another showdown of Sherfield’s top-class bands.
