ISI (Independent Schools Inspectorate) are an independent, government-approved body, equivalent to Ofsted in the state sector, which provides objective inspections to safeguard the quality and effectiveness of the education, care and welfare of children in schools.
Sherfield School was inspected in January 2017 under the new two-part framework which focuses on i) Educational Quality and ii) Compliance.
The headline judgements fall into one of four ISI descriptors: ‘excellent’, ‘good’, ‘sound’ or ‘unsatisfactory’. The overall outcomes of Sherfield School’s inspection are as follows:

Compliance (including National Minimum Standards for Boarding)

EYFS (Nursery/Pre Reception/Reception class)
This is a separate setting inspected under the framework of Ofsted, the top judgement being outstanding.

The Head Master of Sherfield, comments: “I am delighted by the publication of this report which reflects the hard work and sustained commitment of our staff. This dedication extends to the core team of non-teaching staff who ensure that the school operates seamlessly in areas such as boarding, catering and cleaning. I was pleased to hear the inspectors talk so warmly about their meetings with our pupils who are the heart of our focus at Sherfield and who are also our greatest ambassadors.
Particular mention should be made of the Nursery. This setting is registered separately under Ofsted and it has now received the highest judgement of ‘Outstanding’ in all areas for its third consecutive inspection.”
