Pupils are exposed to a wide variety of media, processes and techniques starting in the Nursery and, at later stages, are given the opportunity to work on a large scale in our open plan art studio complex.

Each year pupils work towards an exhibition which showcases the best work from across the year groups. Pupils can also attend a lunchtime and after-school club which gives them an opportunity to work on another skill such as sculpture, still life or portraiture which enriches their portfolio submissions.

We run inspirational art trips to develop pupils’ styles and residential trip for senior students to a crafts hotel in Devon.

We have a well-appointed design technology lab used from the Prep School upwards, plus photography studio, laser cutter and 3D printer.

"Art is a big deal at Sherfield – the art rooms are happy, lived-in spaces with interesting projects on display. Lee-Anne Hampson, Head of Art, is a professional artist and on my visit her enthusiasm and passion were clearly rubbing off on the pupils...Design tech is taken seriously, both in lessons and clubs, and the school owns a super high-spec laser engraving machine that pupils can use."
