Sherfield School pupils are encouraged to link with communities outside school.

Visiting speakers

Outstanding visiting speakers give Sherfield pupils the chance to hear from a range of people.

Past speakers at Sherfield include:

  • Holocaust survivor Mr Schachter who spoke about his experiences to coincide with the WWI Centenary.
  • BP representative Mr Kelly who talked to GCSE and sixth form students about the oil industry.
  • Visiting writer Eve Ainsworth who gave an enjoyable writing workshop to Year 9 and 10 pupils.

Sherfield events for the community

Sherfield students regularly put on plays for the public.

Sherfield hosts popular music performances in the Liddell Concert Series in the Liddell Room. The UK’s best young musicians perform.

We also share performances with the nearby Loddon School.

Celebrations and remembrance

Sherfield village has a rich local history. Pupils regularly take part in events.

Charity events

Sherfield pupils are encouraged to support local and national charities. Friends of Sherfield organise fundraising activities such as Christmas Fayres.

Pupils also participate in charity runs and other local events.

Work experience

Sherfield’s work experience programme is run in partnership with the Basingstoke Consortium.

Year 11 pupils spend two weeks gaining valuable experience at local businesses.

Facility hire

Sherfield School’s outstanding facilities are available for community hire.

Phoenix Badminton, Loddon Sports, Old Basing Cricket Club and Badger go-karting practice in the sports hall after school.

We are proud to be the official sponsors for Loddon Sports Football.

Basingstoke Music and Arts Festival

Each year, Sherfield school hosts the Basingstoke Music and Arts Festival. Pupils from all over Hampshire perform and compete for music awards.
