Sherfield School offers prospective students the chance at entry with a scholarship.

Sherfield School’s scholarships give talented children the chance to benefit from our outstanding academic, sports and arts learning environment.

They are intended for candidates who demonstrate particular academic ability, creative, performing or sporting talent and who would contribute to, flourish and benefit from the ethos and life at the school.

As a condition of their award, all scholars are expected to show continued commitment to their academic studies, act in a broad ambassadorial role for the school and maintain an excellent standard of behaviour.

Award levels

Successful candidates are awarded a merit based scholarship. This gives a discount on term fees and is discretionary.

Academic awards

All scholarship candidates will take part in an interview with a senior staff member and complete a scholarship essay.  They will also take papers in English and mathematics. Candidates are required to have a Taster Day at Sherfield School during term time, which should be before the scholarship day where possible.

Creative and sporting awards

Candidates are invited to present a portfolio of their creative or sporting endeavours. This may include a CV of sporting achievement and references from teachers and coaches.

Candidates are also invited to present a singing, musical, dance, dramatic or sporting performance for assessment. Certificates evidencing examinations or grades already gained may be presented to support an application.

How to apply

Every year Sherfield School offers Academic, Creative, Performing and Sporting Scholarships at each entry level (Year 7, Year 9 and Sixth Form). This year we have also offered additional scholarships for pupils entering Years 5, 6, 8 and 10. The next scholarship exams will take place in the autumn term 2018.

Pupils are asked to sit a cognitive ability test and scholarship awards of a 15% reduction in fees are made based on their score. Please contact our admissions team at for further details.

All applicants must complete registration, a taster day during term time and the school standard entry tests as part of their application.
