The Design & Technology Department exists to provide an effective technological education for children of all abilities and backgrounds. At the heart of Design and Technology is the design process. Using this process of design and the resources provided by technology, we aim to meet the needs of the pupils and therefore prepare them for life and work in the increasingly technological world in which we live.
Design & Technology covers a wide range of specialist areas of study, therefore the curricula arrangements are based around project work, with the children rotating through the specialist areas.
Knowledge is gained by practical experience, reading, by use of computers, by use of videotapes and by other methods of instruction.
Great emphasis is placed on careful presentation and good style, spelling and punctuation. This is generally delivered in the form of design folders, presentations and practical outcomes
Projects range from designing and making pencil cases and T-shirts, wooden paper holders and adjustable mirrors to advanced fashion and computer aided design projects.
