Science is a core subject and essential for intellectual development and lifelong learning. The scope of Science includes the whole universe, and promotes an appreciation of the universe from macro to micro, an enquiring mind-set, and an attitude of responsibility and care.
Science links direct practical experience with ideas. It offers opportunities for careful observation, measurement, communication, prediction, appreciation of the relationship between cause and effect and the solving of problems in an everyday context. The GEMS core values enhance all aspects of the Science curriculum.
We aim to enable pupils to use scientific methods to gather evidence, with a healthy scepticism, so that they can reflect and modify their ideas understanding how science contributes to technological change, society and quality of life.
