PCHE is not only a part of the National Curriculum but also inherent in the GEMS core values: World Citizenship and Universal Values. Through the teaching of PCHE we seek to ensure that our students have every opportunity to develop the knowledge, skills, understanding and attitudes that enable them to integrate into society, so that they are informed, active and responsible members of local, national and global communities.
PCHE provides opportunities for spiritual, moral, social and cultural development, through fostering awareness and understanding, helping students to appraise issues of justice and rights from an informed standpoint, giving them the skills needed to be proactive leaders of healthy reform, and enabling an appreciation of the richness of cultural diversity. The teaching of PCHE is essential to the moral and spiritual development of young people and is a vital part of the life skills process.
