Pupils use ICT tools to find, explore, analyze, exchange and present information responsibly, creatively and with discrimination. Primary ICT
Children in all year groups from Pre-Reception to Year 6 enjoy designated ICT lessons during which they develop their skills in all of the key aspects of ICT. The children also have access to the ICT suite in Lydney, with its range of specific primary software, to enable them to use ICT to support their learning in all areas of the curriculum.
Children from Year 3 are also able to extend their ICT skills in Primary ICT club which runs once a week.

Secondary ICT
Pupils begin with an introduction to the school computer system and each receives a network logon that allows the pupil access to workstations all around the school. Pupils initially learn basic ICT programs that will be of use to them throughout their school career: word processing, database creation and search techniques, desk top publishing, spreadsheets and much more. Theory will cover internet safety, the history of computers and printing, the usage of ICT in business and technical ideas.
Year 8 is the sound and vision multimedia year. Pupils study photographic image manipulation, web page creation, video construction and sound projects.
In Year 9 pupils study for the IAM Award in ICT. This enables them to learn in-depth Microsoft Office skills through a 39 assignment project and receive a Vocationally Related Qualification equivalent to a GCSE Grade A*-C, or a BTEC Level 2 NVQ.
In Years 10 and 11, using skills learnt previously, pupils read for the Cambridge IGCSE in ICT. The course is marked with an exam of 40% and two practical tests worth 60% of the marks. There is no coursework.
IT in a Global Society - International Baccalaureate
Easy access to vast amounts of information and very rapid exchanges of information have profoundly affected how individuals, and groups of individuals, work, play, develop relationships and evolve ethical behaviour. The rapid advances in technology have plunged people into an information age. Accordingly, the focus of ITGS is the Information Age and the challenges that face us.
The subject covers three main topic areas:
- Social and Ethical Issues, where students analyze the social impact and ethical considerations of IT
- IT systems in a Social Context, where students study issues relating to the use of software, hardware and related information systems
- Areas of Impact that provide the topic areas for case studies:
Business and Employment;
Education;
Health;
Arts,
Entertainment and Leisure;
Science and the Environment;
Politics and Government.
