Outstanding Opportunities for Talented Individuals

We are looking for excellence in the chosen field. A scholar should be attaining the highest level within their age group.

ACADEMIC AWARDS

Academic Scholarships for pupils entering Year 3 – Year 7 will be ascertained on entry with results from the Entrance Assessment, feedback from interview and taster visit, plus school reports and reference. Pupils entering at Year 8 and above will sit two papers in their chosen areas of strength.

Scholarship papers are available for the following subjects:

  • English
  • Humanities (Geography, History)
  • ICT
  • Languages (Modern: French, German, Spanish; Classics: Latin)
  • Mathematics
  • Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Physics).

SPORTS AWARDS

In sports, a scholar will hold a regular team place for a representative
sports team or a national/regional ranking in the primary sport plus excellence
in two other sports.

A Sports Award is offered on the basis of exceptional all-round sporting ability and proficiency in at least two of the major sports, which should include a representative honour in at least one of these sports. To be worthy of an award a candidate must show evidence of exceptional sporting ability.

MUSIC AWARDS

In music applicants should offer two instruments to grade 2 (age 7), grade 3 (age 11), and grade 5 (age 13).

Awards are made on the basis of audition and interview. Candidates usually offer two instruments although it is not necessary to have taken the Associated Board exam. They should prepare two contrasting pieces on their main instrument and one piece on the additional instrument.

DANCE AWARDS

All candidates will be interviewed and will be asked to demonstrate excellence in their preferred area of Dance, eg Ballet, Tap, Ballroom etc. Candidates should prepare a short dance to perform to the assessor and other candidates.

ART & DESIGN AWARDS

Candidates are expected to produce work in a variety of media to a high standard and to discuss their work coherently using appropriate terminology.

DRAMA AWARDS

All candidates will be interviewed and will be asked to demonstrate
excellence in either (a) Dramatic Performance or (b) Technical Skills.
